Dimapur, May 6 (EMN): The Peren Town Youth Organization has declared that it ‘fully’ endorses and supports the notification issued by the deputy commissioner on January 11 prohibiting movement of trucks carrying timber in Peren district after April 30.
“It stated that the need to stop rampant logging was necessitated as besides causing ecological imbalance, the roads which were undergoing repairs after ages were damaged even before plying by log laden trucks,” the organisation stated in a press release on Saturday.
The group also denounced the alleged threat by ‘NTTU’ to “impose indefinite vehicular movement” in Peren district from May 8. The press release warned that no such blockade will be carried out within the area and that stern action would be initiated against individuals supporting “such illegal acts.”
