Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): The movement to rid Nagaland’s districts of plastic continues.
A programme advocating a plastic-free environment was conducted on July 2 at Tening town by the district administration of Peren district. The event coincided with a training programme too, in paper bag-making.

Likewise, plastic in Wokha had a brush with personnel of the Wokha District Task Force who were said to have checked various business establishments and seized ‘plastics.’
The government publicity agency, the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued updates in its July 2 reports about activities of the government establishments.
RhosiethoNguori, additional deputy commissioner spoke about the various government initiatives to create an environment that is free of plastic.
Likewise, T Sulanthung, extra additional commissioner, highlighted the Solid Waste Management Rules of 2016 and the Plastic Waste Management Rules of 2016. The officer appealed to the participants to ‘ensure proper waste management,’ the IPR stated.
Gaon Burah Adubo, no surname given, was said to have given a demonstration on how to make paper bags. Government officials, youth, women, village council members, town leaders and entrepreneurs, among others, attended the training event, the IPR added.
Wokha
In Wokha, the IPR reported, members of the Wokha District Task Force went checking on various business establishments in and around Wokha town and seized plastic and related materials. The checking was conducted on July 2 by district administration, members of the town council, and personnel of the police.
The enforcement activity was to ‘discourage public from using plastic and its related products,’ the IPR explained.
