Peren and Tuensang DPDB meetings reviewed development activities, infrastructure concerns, landslides, road blockages, festivals and departmental programmes.
DIMAPUR — The monthly meetings of the District Planning & Development Boards (DPDBs) of Peren and Tuensang districts were held on Monday, with the boards reviewing ongoing development activities, departmental programmes and issues concerning public infrastructure and welfare.
Peren: The Peren DPDB meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of MLA and DPDB Peren chairman Namri Nchang.
Addressing the meeting, Nchang stressed the importance of collective efforts to bring about significant development in the district, a DIPR report stated.
He appreciated Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru for coordinating developmental activities and urged officers to remain active, sincere and committed to public service.
He also called upon the officers to work collectively towards addressing issues faced by the people.
While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, Meru appreciated heads of offices for their continued participation in the monthly mass social work conducted on the last Friday of every month.
However, he noted that staff participation remained comparatively low and urged officers to encourage their respective staff to take part actively.
Regarding the construction of offices and quarters at the district headquarters, the DC asked heads of offices to closely monitor ongoing works under their respective departments to ensure quality construction and prevent future complications.
Under the DPDB initiative to adopt one village under each Rural Development (RD) Block to streamline the functioning of Village Development Boards (VDBs) and Village Councils, the chairman of Samziuram Village Council shared his experience of attending a recent consultative programme organised by the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima.
The board also approved a proposal to shift the venue of the Inter-Departmental Tournament 2026 from the district headquarters to Jalukie town.
On the Mini Hornbill Festival, the DC informed the house that while the event had been held in December in previous years, the Tribal Hoho-NZPO has proposed to organise it from October 29 to the 31st this year.
He called upon all government departments to extend active cooperation and urged the Agriculture and allied departments to set up exhibition stalls during the festival.
NZPO president Zandi Domta also briefed the house on the proposed arrangements and appealed to the MLA and DPDB chairman and government departments for their cooperation towards the successful conduct of the event.
Regarding the second edition of the King Chilli Festival to be held at New Puilwa village, the DC appreciated the initiative and called upon all departments to extend support, particularly the departments of Horticulture, Agriculture, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), and Industries & Commerce.
Officials from the concerned departments assured their support and intervention for the successful conduct of the festival.
The board also approved and recommended the registration of the Benreu Brotherhood Club.
Following the agenda deliberations, representatives from various departments made PowerPoint presentations on their respective activities and programmes.
Tuensang: The monthly Tuensang DPDB meeting was held at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the chairman briefed the members on the visit of the inter-ministerial central team to Longleng, the meeting held with the team by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tuensang, and its aerial survey of landslide-affected areas in the district.
Dr. Akash Sinha, SDPO Tuensang, apprised the house of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate cases of dual employment of government employees in the state.
The board discussed and approved the registration of the Hills Development Welfare Society and Haojam Integrated Welfare Society.
During the PowerPoint presentation on departmental activities, the Urban Development Department, represented by Tinoakhum Longchar, AUDO, highlighted key provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, which came into effect in the state on April 1, 2026.
The board also deliberated on damage to infrastructure at Sao Chang College, Tuensang, and road blockages caused by incessant rainfall in the district.
