Dimapur, July 31 (EMN): A programme themed on the Population Stabilisation Fortnight was conducted in Peren on July 11 with the slogan “Take responsibility towards family planning-prepare for the wellbeing of mother and child.”
The programme was conducted successfully till the 24th of July, updates stated. The district’s health authorities issued on Tuesday a press release informing about the programme.
A family planning camp was conducted in the district hospital, and community health centres and primary health centres besides sub-centres, the organisers stated. According to the updates, “Miking” and announcements were made in different areas of towns and villages.
“Banners were also placed in the health units to create awareness and motivate during the observance of Population Stabilisation fortnight.”
To educate the people, focus group discussions on matters of family planning were conducted by health workers in the health units, besides counselling services by medical officers and nurses.
Further, accredited social health activists ‘conducted inter-personnel communication’ activities in all the villages, the updates stated.
During the camp, contraceptives such as condoms, oral pills and emergency pills were also distributed. Educational materials in the form of leaflets and posters also were distributed to the health units, the updates stated.
Further, medical workers from the community health centre of Jalukie conducted laparoscopic sterilisation camps.
A total of 23 clients underwent permanent sterilisation while 34 IUCDS insertions were done during the event, the updates informed.
