Dimapur, Sep. 19 (EMN): As part of the State-wide programme on Kala Utsav, a visual arts on painting competition was held at Town Hall, Peren, on September 19 under the supervision of Visiezelie Yashu, RMSA Joint Mission Director, and Timothy Thong, Deputy Mission Director.
The programme was divided into two parts for the competition and the formal programme. The competition on visual arts painting showcasing traditional values of life on the theme “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” was competed amongst the students of high schools and higher secondary schools.
Deugum of Government Higher Secondary School, Peren, was declared winner of the competition, while Wabungtemjen of Government Higher Secondary School, Peren, and Paurang of Government Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, were declared second and third winners respectively.
During the formal programme, Visiezelie Yashu highlighted on the purpose of holding the Kala Utsav across the country which began in 2015. He encouraged the students to be enlightened about their own culture.
Timothy Thong explained to the students on the practical aspect of participation in the Kala Utsav events in the near future.
The programme was chaired by L Toshimenla Imchen, DDEO Peren, and the vote of thanks was delivered Mary Zhimomi, SDEO Peren.
Meanwhile, Education Department has announced to organise a district level Kala Utsav competition on September 22 at the Multipurpose Hall of Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School, at 10 a.m.
Deputy District Education Officer, Kohima district, Neizetuonuo stated that Kala Utsav’s main objective is to encourage and promote showcasing promising talents at national level. Neizetuonuo further informed that the event would focus on performing arts, dance, music and theatre.
She also stated that the talent search is supposed to begin from the schools to represent at the district level and then to state level and finally at national level.
