Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Peren district has successfully observed the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) by organising meeting in all the four blocks involving 133 ASHAs, while a total of 6000 ORS sachet and 9000 Zinc tablets were distributed to all the health units and to the ASHAs.
The fortnight was observed from June 12 and culminated on June 24. In observance of the IDCF, a one day district level orientation cum meeting was also held on June 5 in the CMO’s conference hall, new district headquarter. It was attended by CMO, deputy CMO, DPO UIP/RCH, medical officers, nurses and district and block programme management unit staff, NHM.
During the orientation, Dr. Yetovi, DPO UIP/RCH, has briefed about the guidelines for the IDCF fortnight stating that ASHA’s are the main component in observing the fortnight. He also highlighted about the distribution of ORS and Zinc tablets and to identify all children under the age of 5 years.
He has requested the ASHA coordinators to brief all the ASHA workers about the IDCF. He has also urged the medical officers and ANMs to work in coordination with the other health workers for the success of the programme. Besides, he also urged all health workers to demonstrate and promote the importance of hand washing.
Dr. Supongmenla, deputy CMO, has highlighted about the roles and responsibilities of the health workers in times of emergency. She has asked to intensively carry out information, education and communication awareness.
During the fortnight programme, the department had covered all the health units including one district hospital, one community health centre (CHC), eight primary health centres (PHCs) and 16 sub centres.
