
Dimapur, March 1 (EMN): The office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Peren, under the aegis of National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) observed its first phase of Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) fortnight campaign from February 14 to the 28th.
The fortnight campaign was initiated under the supervision of district vector borne disease officer, Dr. Hedungkiebe, and the district consultant, Vimekhrie-ü Metsieo, stated an update from CMO Peren.
During the campaign, DVBDO Dr. Hedungkiebe stated that the LLIN, which were distributed covering the whole of Peren district, would help in curbing the spread of malaria. He has encouraged the community members to make use of the facilities provided by the government in order to control the spread of malaria in the district.
The fortnight activities included house-to-house visits conducted by block malaria technical supervisors, surveillance workers of the district NCVBDC Cell and ASHA of the district. The team has conducted screening for fever, created awareness on proper use of LLIN, importance of early diagnosis and treatment of malaria etc.
Report stated that the activities were conducted in selected strategic villages in all the four blocks under Peren district.
