PenThrill marks 125th publication with Themreichon Leisan’s poetry

DIMAPUR — PenThrill’s 125th publication, “Homesick for Another World,” a poetry collection by Themreichon Leisan, was officially released by Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor to School Education and SCERT, at the Nagaland State Guest House in New Delhi on September 17.

Speaking at the release, Dr. Yhome said internal diaspora among tribal societies has resulted in young people moving to cities in pursuit of education and employment opportunities, creating a sense of longing and displacement.

He described the poetry collection as “a new genre of cultural memories” that articulates lived and personal experiences through artistic expression. He also expressed hope that such writings would continue to grow.

Leisan, who hails from the mountain region of Ukhrul, Manipur, is an avid reader and writer who enjoys reviewing books and crafting stories inspired by the world around her.

She holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Delhi and is a former teacher. She currently lives and works in New Delhi.

In her acknowledgement, Leisan said the book “exists because of many quiet pushes,” adding that it was not something she arrived at alone but was shaped by conversations, encouragement and the quiet persistence of people who believed in her before she fully believed in herself.

“The book is for the ones who feel, always and for the ones who helped me keep feeling,” she wrote.

PenThrill publisher Vishü Rita Krocha said the publication marked the publishing house’s 125th book and its fifth author from Manipur.
