One pedestrian believed to be a labourer was killed by a Dimapur-bound mini bus from Kuhoboto near Burma Camp police point this afternoon.
The mishap took place at around 12:50 pm, when the speeding bus bearing number NL 01 B 0217 rammed into a shop which deals with Cement, police said.
The deceased identified as Abdul Kadir, 26 years, died of head injury and was lying in the pool of blood at the spot.
According to traffic police, the driver identified as Nasir Hussain, 32 years, along with the passengers of the bus fled the scene.
He was said to be absconding. Later, through contact with the bus owner, the driver was arrested from Dimapur at around 5.30 pm.
During interrogation with the driver and examination of the bus it was revealed that the bus did not suffer any mechanical failure but the driver lost control and rammed into the shop.
The driver was also not under any alcohol influence, according to the police.
After inquiry, a case has been registered and the driver was kept under police custody.
