Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): A state-wide peace rally will be held today to demand the government of India for early settlement of Naga political issue that has been dragged on for years.
The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) has said that ‘the proposed rally in all the district headquarters of the state and two sub-divisions under its aegis is to convey to the government of India that delaying and prolonging the political dialogue without any plausible reason would be considered a serious political error and lack of commitment.’
Even as it asked the public to co-operate and support the rally, the Federation has assured that it will be a “peaceful one.”
Meanwhile, the Naga Council Dimapur has also informed its 19 affiliated-tribes, Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen’s Federation, GB Union Sadar Dimapur, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur to assemble at the deputy commissioner’s office complex at 10 am on Dec. 12 to submit a memorandum demanding early solution to the Indo-Naga talks.
It may be mentioned that the government of India and the NSCN (IM) signed the historic Naga peace accord, a framework agreement, to end the over six decades of Nagas' struggle for self determination on August 3, 2015 but not much progress has been seen even after three years into the peace talk.
