Dimapur, Oct. 19 (EMN): Peace Channel organised a capacity building programme at at Don Bosco Hr. Sec School and Christ King Hr. Sec. School Kohima on Oct. 16 where peace prayers and peace pledge was initiated by the club members.
Speaking on the occasion Alino Chishi, the Kohima district coordinator of Peace Channel, shared on the ‘seven principles of peace’ which are universally accepted as values for peace promotion in the world. She encouraged the students to follow the principles of peace i.e., spirituality for peace, reconciliation, sacrifice, voluntarism, self-realization, hospitality and non- violence. With the highlights of the seven principles she asserted that not long our society will be free from the nest of conflict.
Stressing on the topic, she added that the seven principles contains highly nurtured standards for peace in almost every corner of the world. She said that peace would be easier ‘if each person follows these principles of peace’. Having concern for the need of peace in the society, she asserted that peace is one of the most essential requirements of humanity and that peace differs from person to person based on personal experiences, situations and perceptions. She motivated the students to practice and cultivate a peaceful atmosphere within oneself and with ones surroundings through acceptance and dialogue.
The programme includes peace prayer and peace pledge, ice-breaking games, input session, group discussion, sharing and sharing of learning experience, where majority of the students expressed and shared that they will inculcate the principles in their daily life, stated a press release from the Peace Channel.
