DIMAPUR — The Peace Channel successfully conducted a one-day leadership programme for Peace Club leaders in Chümoukedima on June 28.

The event brought together enthusiastic young leaders from various schools, aiming to foster leadership skills rooted in peace, responsibility, and value-based actions, an update stated.

Jose, trainer at Peace Channel, led the main session with a captivating talk on 'Lead by Example.' He began by having participants introduce themselves, using the exercise to illustrate how leaders think uniquely and act with purpose and vision.

In a reflective exercise, Jose encouraged participants to assess school leadership practices and envision improvements. Through personal examples, he underscored essential qualities like fairness, positivity, respect, and transparent communication.

The session concluded with an action plan formulated by the club leaders to celebrate Friendship Day on July 30 within their respective schools.

“The programme had a significant impact on the participants, who gained essential leadership skills grounded in peace, ethics, and responsibility. The interactive and participatory nature of the sessions enabled students to engage deeply with the content, while also encouraging self-expression and reflection.

“Notably, the opportunity to speak and share in front of their peers helped boost their confidence, particularly in public speaking and communication skills that are vital for effective leadership both within and beyond the school environment,” the update stated.

Earlier, the programme commenced with a welcome address by Besa, Chümoukedima district coordinator, who emphasised the critical role of young leaders in shaping a peaceful and progressive society.

She motivated students to grow into responsible leaders, reminding them that leadership carries responsibility and the power to inspire positive change.
