  • According to an update, the highlight of the day was an impactful session led by James Phanungkiu, project coordinator at Peace Channel, who delivered a talk on ‘Confidence building and leadership towards peace.’

  • Drawing from his personal life, he shared a touching story of transformation from being a shy, introverted student who experienced bullying, to rising above his challenges and eventually becoming the president of the student council during his college years.

  • “His honest and inspiring journey resonated deeply with the students, encouraging them to believe in their potential, embrace their individuality, and develop confidence as future leaders,” the update stated.

  • Phanungkiu further emphasised that leadership is not about titles but about self-awareness, empathy, and taking initiative to build peace within their surroundings.

  • The second session was led by Saziini Chache, researcher at Peace Channel, who spoke on ‘Peace celebration and its seven steps,’ outlining practical methods of integrating peace-building practices into everyday student life.

  • This was followed by an action planning session coordinated by Ashela Teresa, project coordinator, who highlighted the objectives, responsibilities, and significance of Peace Clubs. She encouraged students to actively promote peace in their schools and communities, with a special focus on organising impactful activities for the upcoming World Environment Day.

  • Students regrouped by school to brainstorm and draft Peace Club activity plans, applying insights from the sessions.

  • The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and benediction by Pezangulie Suokhrie, media coordinator at Peace Channel.
