Dimapur, November 17: Elaborating that Nagas can only move forward if we are united, State chief minister TR Zeliang said peace a pre-requisite for any development to take place.
Speaking at the Jalukie town golden jubilee celebration on November 17 on the theme ‘Towards greater heights’ at GHSS football ground, Zeliang said Nagas are second to none, adding we can march forward only if we are united.
Stating that vision alone cannot bring better future, he said it require co-operation from all angles. He said vision will remain vision if not translated into action.
He said that unless permanent solution is met, peace cannot be there and development cannot be imagined. He, therefore, urged the people to forgive and forget their past and unite as one in order to strive forward in the spirit of jubilee. He also mentioned about many good leaders, who have worked hard and carried out the mission to establish Jalukie town.
“We have completed 50 years and so with new thoughts and clean mind and good vision and plan, we will enter a new epoch making era,” he said.
Mentioning that Jalukie is the rice bowl of the State, he said with the available potentiality the economy of the people will be much better, ‘if we put little effort.’ He also said Jalukie has the only Mid-Night Bazaar in the State where we get organic vegetables, fruits, rice etc.
He also mentioned some advantages like Veterinary College Jalukie; Diphu-Karong-Imphal railway line; 129A NHIDCL Nagaland Express Highway from Maram passing through Jalukie; foothill road from Mon to Khelma touching Maibang in Assam. He urged upon the people to put their hands and minds together for the betterment of the society and make Jalukie town a better town than Dimapur.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the monolith and also released the jubilee souvenir while the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Rev. Kuzierang Thou, State Chaplain. Heruikai was performed by the Old Jalukie village and invocation prayer was pronounced by Mongzeung Mpom, Pastor JTLBC, and beautiful jubilee spotlight was presented by Minkamlak (Jiji). The welcome address was delivered by Rhosietho Nguori, SDO(C) & Convener.
Short speeches were delivered by chairman of Old Jalukie village council; Deputy Commissioner, Peren; and DUDA Advisor. A folk tune was presented by Iriegong Mpom, while jubilee song was presented by the jubilee choir. The vote of thanks was delivered by Imtui Mpom, Steering Committee Member, and benediction prayer was pronounced by Rev. Fr. John, Assistant Parish Priest, St. Xavier.
A host of ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisors, Heads of Offices of Peren district, public leaders, NGOs, public, students, church leaders attended the Jalukie town golden jubilee celebration.
