Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): The Power Department Junior Engineers’ Service Association (PDJESA) has announced to launch a three-day democratic form of protest beginning on May 19 by wearing black badges followed with mass casual leave for three days.
The protest has been necessitated to express resentment against the Nagaland Engineering Service policy formulated by the state government.
In a press release, the association president, L Hekuto, and the general secretary, Razouvoyi Francis Rhakho, stated that it had submitted a representation to the government on August 19, 2019, for the career progression of the junior engineers (JE), while the government has failed to take any positive steps till date.
The association claimed that the state government has formulated the Nagaland Engineering Service in such a way that the Group-B cadre of engineers are deprived of timely promotion to the post of SDO and never get the opportunity for further promotion (i.e. EE and above). It added that JE get promotion only on the verge of retirement, while many members have retired without a single promotion.
In order to address the stagnation problem of junior engineers, the association stated that it had written repeated reminders to address its grievances but to no avail.
Therefore, in order to express its resentment, the association has decided to launch democratic form of protest with effect from May 19. Meanwhile, the association has expressed regret for the inconvenience that might cause to the public during the process of agitation.
