Dimapur, May 23 (EMN): In a run up to the ensuing Lok Sabha by-election in the state, PDA alliance comprising NDPP, BJP, JDU and NCP parties held an intensive three-day campaign under 37 Tuyi assembly constituency in Wokha district.
Private secretary to the deputy chief minister, Hachio Patton, addressing the campaign, has urged the citizens of state not to have misconception about the chief minister Neiphiu Rio coming back to state politics. He clarified that his (Rio) coming back to state politics was the desired of the people to provide stable government.
Hachio stated that PDA had chosen Tokheho Yepthomi as its consensus candidate basing on his vast political experiences. He said the government has confidence on his leadership as he can speak about the grievances of the Nagas in the parliament. Hachio further called upon the voters of 37 AC to give unflinching support and be part of the government under the leadership of the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the deputy chief minister Y Patton.
He also called upon the citizens to forgive and forget the difference during the last state assembly election and collectively support the consensus PDA candidate. He further appealed the citizens to ensure peaceful and fair poll during the by- election.
BJP Wokha district president, Meribemo, expressed confidence that the PDA consensus candidate Tokheho Yepthomi would win the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election with thumbing majority. He has appealed the people of 37 Tuyi AC to exercise their franchise in favour of PDA candidate for more development in the state.
The campaign kicked off on May 21 covering Englan range, Chukitong range and Nyiro range and concluded on May 23.
In a separate rally in Molvom village under Medziphema sub-division on May 23, local MLA from 5 Ghaspani-II AC, Zhaleo Rio has campaigned for PDA consensus candidate Tokheho Yepthomi for the ensuing Lok Sabha by- election. He said its candidate has all the requisite leadership capabilities and that “his vision is beyond compare.”
A press release Thejangukho Yalietsu, press secretary of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC, stated that public leaders and elders of Kuki villages from nearby Molvom attended the programme.
Speaking at the programme, Rio reminded that a permanent solution to the vexed Naga issue remains to be the top priority of NDPP. On the party’s common minimum programme, Rio shared a long list of programmes meant for all sections of the society.
“In this programme, we can also see changes particularly in creating opportunities for the differently-abled people as well as the elderly, the weak and the rural people,” he stated. He added that “PDA government has begun some programmes while some would be implemented in the coming days after proper processes.”
He has expressed gratitude to the Kuki people for their exemplary solidarity on his leadership during the last general elections. He has also warned against sinister designs by people from other political parties who are continuously spreading wrong propaganda to lure people away from voting for abled leader. He advised the people to be wary of such self-centred people who are out to misguide ignorant people.
Rio further urged every villager to exercise their franchise on polling day and vote for PDA consensus candidate.
