Kohima, April 17 (EMN): As part of his tour to healthcare centres in Wokha district, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton visited Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Chukitong and Covid-19 quarantine ward at Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyalaya (JNV), Chukitong, on April 17.
During the visit, Patton appreciated the JNV school authority for providing a 48-bedded infrastructure to be used for quarantine facility in Chukitong block under Wokha district.
He also expressed appreciation to the frontline workers, district administration, police force and medical department for the cohesive efforts in the fight to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Patton initiated the first phase of food and essential commodities distribution to the people of 37th Tuyi assembly constituency. It was an initiative taken up by the minister and not part of the government’s programme.
A total of 350 quintal of rice, 17 bags of dal and 20 bags of potatoes were distributed to six villages in the first phase in the presence of district administrative officials and BJP party workers.
During the distribution, he stressed on the need to sensitise and practise social distancing, and adhering to the orders issued by the government for the safety of everyone. He informed that distribution would be done in phase-wise keeping in mind the protocol/ guidelines of the district administration within four hours window i.e. from 6 am to 10 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
