Patton presses to adhere to guidelines of the status quo

Dimapur, April 8 (EMN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton on Thursday visited Lamhainamdi village to take stock of the ground situation of the Dimapur-Peren border area belt.

An update from DIPR informed that he was accompanied by members of the cabinet sub-committee constituted earlier for boundary demarcation between Dimapur and Peren districts comprising ministers Neiba Kronu, Paiwang Konyak, Pangnyu Phom and Kashiho Sangtam.

It stated that the team visited the place of occurrence of the recent unfortunate killings on March 22 and also the burial site of the three persons who lost their lives, which was followed by a brief meeting held at 9th IR battalion hqs. Saijang.

The report stated that Patton appealed for maintaining peace and tranquillity by taking care of law and order situation especially in the disputed areas to avert untoward incidents and prevent further loss of life and property. He further appealed for strictly adhering to the guidelines of the status quo issued by the government.

Patton reiterated that the government was ‘serious’ on the disputed area issue leading to loss of lives, and for which a special investigation team had been constituted on March 23 resulting in the arrests of four persons and that further investigation was going in full swing. He stated that those found guilty would be punished as per relevant law after the submission of the SIT report.

Host of government officials including principal secretary of Home, commissioner Nagaland, ADGP (law and order), IGP (intelligence), deputy commissioners of Dimapur and Peren, commissioner of police Dimapur, superintendents of police of Dimapur and Peren and other administrative officers from both districts accompanied the visiting team, it informed.
