Extolling the yeoman service of the Assam Rifles for their consistent love and care for the people of the region, State Home Minister, Y Patton, today made a rare distinction of the forces by referring them as elite force in the country.
Addressing a mega medical camp at DDSC Stadium this morning, Patton attributed success of the forces to the undying ethos of their leaders and men by displaying commitment of their ‘service before self.’
“It is not today’s medical camp but the consistent love and care showered by the Assam Rifles that distinguishes the elite force. It speaks volumes about the leadership and solidarity exhibited by the force with singular aim of sustaining peace and harmony in the region,” Patton remarked. He added that the versatility, adaptability, selfless attitude and resourcefulness of the Assam Rifles have allowed it to be what it is today as nation builders.
Mentioning that people don’t get time to look after their health, while those who have time do not have the medical facilities today in the race of life, Patton remarked that the scenario often leads to sickness without even realizing the pace at which we approached. At such time, he said the ventures undertaken by the Assam Rifles had truly indicated their love and concern for the people. He said such gesture had manifested their love for peace and tranquility.
Referring to its motto ‘Service before self,’ Patton said deployment of Assam Rifles gave utmost satisfaction and made marked presence in the hearts and lives of the people. He said the force had stood steady and first amongst equals to look after the people of Nagaland whether it is medical camps, educational tours, training for recruitment rallies or welfare projects.
On the occasion, Patton called upon the people to make maximum use of the facilities provided by the Assam Rifles. He has acknowledged Cadila Healthcare for offering free screening of Hepatitis B and C. The minister also encouraged everybody to be part of the noble mission initiated by the Assam Rifles for blood donation.
The mega medical camp was organized to commemorate 181 Raising Day of the Assam Rifles. The medical camp was organized under the initiative of Col. VS Shikawar, Commandant of 32 Assam Rifles.
