Patkai Christian College hosts seminar on academic writing

- DIMAPUR — A
one-day seminar on "Academic writing and intellectual property: the art of
giving credit" was organised by the department of Philosophy, Patkai
Christian College (PCC) (Autonomous) at the college's conference hall on
February 28.
- According to an update, the seminar was coordinated by a
committee comprising Dr. Wojanbeni S Yanthan, Bendang Longchar and Mhao Tungoe.
- Dr. Temjenkala Jamir, as the resource person, speaking on
the occasion, stressed the importance of credibility while explaining different
types of research, its terminologies, fundamentals and techniques.
- She discussed the importance of intellectual property rights
in academia, ICT, and plagiarism and their relevance in the field of research
and society.
- Speaking on the qualities of good research, she mentioned
that research must address important and relevant issues, adding that it should
increase knowledge and have beneficial implications.
- She also highlighted the provision for scholars to access
open-source and open-content resources, such as the National Library of India,
the National Digital Library and NCERT.
- The importance of citations and referencing, the APA style
and its basic formats, and types were some of the areas the resource person
delved into.
