- DIMAPUR — The
49th annual sports week of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), Chümoukedima,
got underway at the college ground on Monday, with Worrin Muivah, founder of
Step Academy, as the special guest for the inaugural ceremony.
- In his address, the special guest shared the importance of
sports and extracurricular activities in shaping a student’s life.
- Citing research, Muivah also emphasised the connection
between sports and said that “80% of senior executives in Fortune 500 companies
played sports during their college days. Why? Because sports teach resilience,
teamwork and perseverance — qualities essential for leadership.”
- He further stressed on the role of faith and encouraged
students to put God first in their lives.
- “When I joined the Young India Fellowship, I felt out of
place among students from IITs and prestigious universities. Yet, I believe God
honoured me because I put Him first. That faith led to more scholarships and
further opportunities abroad. Many of you might be unsure about your future,
but I encourage you to seek God first (Matthew 6:33). If you do, everything
else will fall into place,” he added.
- As a gesture of gratitude, Muivah announced a donation to
the student association and also offered two fully-funded scholarships from
Step Academy, an institute that equips students with career skills such as
communication, CV writing, and interview preparation.
- The inaugural day witnessed sports and games including 100
m, 400 m, 800 m and 1200 m race, relay race and basketball.
- The event, which showcased six competitive houses, commenced
with a prayer by Dr. Vichükho Ngukha, chaplain of PCC, followed by a welcome
speech from assistant general secretary, SUPCC, Cheimirin Valui.
