- DIMAPUR — The
first Passing Out Ceremony of the Livingstone Foundation Volleyball Coaching
Centre was held at the Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) auditorium,
Dimapur on March 24.
- According to an update, the ceremony was attended by N
Vineikholie, District Sports Officer and District Youth Resources Officer,
Dimapur, as the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema,
Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International, Ani Yepthomi, Director of
LFI, and Talinukshi Ao, Secretary of Livingstone Foundation Volleyball Coaching
Centre.
- In his address, N Vineikholie urged the young volleyball
players to maintain discipline, healthy habits, and a balanced diet. He
highlighted various government initiatives such as Catch Them Young and Khelo
India, which have played a crucial role in identifying and nurturing young
sports talent in Nagaland and the Northeast. He expressed hope that the
Livingstone Foundation Volleyball Coaching Centre would help players hone their
skills and eventually represent the state and region at national and
international levels.
- As per the update, the Livingstone Foundation Volleyball
Coaching Centre is an initiative of Livingstone Foundation International (LFI),
established without external aid. The coaching centre emphasises holistic
development by integrating sports into education. As part of its long-term
vision, LFI plans to introduce professional coaching camps for other sports
such as football, basketball, and traditional games like lagori.
- Speaking at the event, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema expressed
gratitude to the state government and the Department of Sports and Youth
Resources for their support in establishing the centre. He highlighted the
growing career opportunities in sports, emphasising that many athletes today
receive government recognition and lucrative opportunities.
- He encouraged young players to become assets to the nation
and to remain humble and committed to their communities. Stressing the
importance of discipline, he stated that athletes who uphold high standards of
discipline gain a competitive edge over others.
