The Wokha Town Council is developing a parking facility at Police Point to reduce traffic congestion and improve parking management in Wokha town.

WOKHA — The Wokha Town Council (WTC) has begun developing a parking facility at Police Point, one of the busiest junctions in Wokha town, to ease traffic congestion and provide a more organised parking system.
WTC Chairperson Myingthungo Kikon said the initiative forms part of the council's efforts to improve urban infrastructure and create adequate parking space for the public.
He acknowledged that the ongoing construction has caused temporary inconvenience to commuters, particularly in terms of vehicle movement and parking, and appealed for public cooperation until the project is completed.
"The ongoing work may cause temporary inconvenience, but we kindly request the public to cooperate with us. This development is being carried out for the benefit of everyone and is aimed at providing a proper parking area for the public," Kikon said.

The council commenced work on July 11 and is making every effort to complete the project at the earliest. However, progress has been slowed by heavy traffic in the area and unfavourable weather conditions.
Kikon said the council is prioritising completion of the current stretch before taking up the remaining section, adding that work would continue into the late hours wherever feasible to expedite the project.
He expressed hope that the parking facility would be completed within the week, subject to favourable weather conditions. Once completed, the project is expected to provide a more systematic parking arrangement and improve traffic flow at Police Point, a key junction in Wokha town.
