Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): Principal of MGM Higher Secondary School, Rev. Fr. Dr. PS Varghese, called upon the parents to guide their children in a positive way and create a friendly environment at home to enable them excel in studies, while he also discouraged taking on tuition culture.
Varghese stated this while addressing the second Parents-Teachers’ Association (PTA) meeting cum music competition on April 17 in the school’s auditorium. Varghese urged the parents to create friendly environment for their children at home and to guide them in a positive way. He also highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities for the all round development of a child.
Stating that the school is giving remedial classes for slow learners and also taking care of gifted students to train them to reach their maximum potential, he advised the parents against taking on tuition culture.
The school’s headmaster, B Paul, advised the parents to give first priority to their children's education and not to neglect them while they are studying but to acknowledge their success. He further stressed on the importance of 'learning through observation.'
The parents also expressed their views and opinions.
Teachers from Tarang Music Academy have entertained the gathering. The school offers music and dance classes in collaboration with Tarang Music Academy from the previous month.
The principal also informed that the school, in collaboration with Faith in Action Teakwon-do Academy, Dimapur, would start Taekwon-do course for Classes I to XII from next month.
Music competition was conducted for Classes V to VIII where the teacher trainees of Unity B. Ed College and Bosco B. Ed College were the judges.
The meeting began with an invocation said by teacher Inatoli followed with welcome speech by teacher Erenbeni. Teacher N Singh thanked all the parents and students for their active participation.
The school announced to hold another PTA meeting in the month of May for the students of Class IX and X.
