St. Savio Higher Secondary School in Chümoukedima conducts a parents-teachers meeting and drug abuse awareness programme.

DIMAPUR — St. Savio Higher Secondary School in Chümoukedima organised a parents-teachers meeting and awareness programme on drug abuse on the theme "Parents and teachers: One team, one mission" on Saturday.
School Managing Board Chairman Razouvotuo Chatsu, who is also the chairman of Chümoukedima Village Council and advisor of the Angami Public Organisation, addressed the gathering and encouraged parents to play an active role in the modern education system.
According to an update, he stated that parents are indispensable partners in shaping the future of their children and called upon them to work hand in hand with the school in nurturing responsible and successful citizens.
The highlight of the programme was an awareness session on "Protecting our children from drug abuse (parent's role)" delivered by Second Officer-in-Charge of Diphupar Police Station, Wopen Jami.
He sensitised parents to the growing threat of drug abuse among young people and urged them to remain vigilant, maintain open communication with their children, monitor their activities and friendships, and work closely with the school to protect them from the menace of drugs.

Addressing the gathering on "Parents as partners in education", Principal Reji Kuriakose stated that parents and teachers are the two wings of a child. Just as a bird needs both wings to fly, every child needs the united support of both home and school to soar towards his or her dreams.
He added that the holistic development of every child is possible only when parents and teachers work together as one team.
Parents were also briefed on various school initiatives, including UDISE+, APAAR, scholarship schemes, the Ayushman Bharat Health Insurance Scheme, the Scool360 School Mobile App, student discipline, assessment policies, and supporting children effectively at home.
An open forum enabled parents to share their suggestions and concerns. During the meeting, Iviholi Kiho was unanimously selected as the new parents' representative.
