Dimapur, April 2 (EMN): One-day orientation training of Para Legal Volunteers and Panel Lawyers was organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority at Mon in collaboration with Mon DLSA in order to sensitize the PLVs on various new rules and legislations and to introduce them to the training manual for legal services lawyers covering legal topics within legal services domain as well as practical aspects to serve as a guide for panel lawyers & PLVs.
The Ice breaking session was initiated by Advocate Cheliam Khiam, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA.
The orientation training covered topics such as do’s & don’ts of PLV, motor vehicle accident claims/cases and role of PLVs, consumer redressal techniques & Ffrums, role of PLVs, practical on writing petition, complain and FIR, role play on crimes against women or children.
Resource persons for the training were advocate Limathung Ezong, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer; advocate Limasenla Longkumer, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer; advocate Cheliam Khiam, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer and advocate Esther K Aye, Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer.
District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman of Mon DLSA, Nieko Kanuo, who also delivered welcome address, spoke on the challenges and problems and way forward for a PLVs and panel lawyers. He also encouraged the PLVs to put into practice what they have learnt in the training and to spread the message in their locality and churches. He further informed the PLVs not to get discouraged by the problems they may face while performing their duties. He also motivated them to work hard and to bring laurel to their district by working sincerely and serving the people of Mon district to bring access to justice to the deserving beneficiaries. The programme was attended by 26 participants.
