Dimapur, April 12 (EMN): The Kohima District legal Services Authority in collaboration with Nagaland State Legal Services Authority organized an Orientation Training of Para Legal Volunteers & Panel Lawyers, at the Deputy Commissioners Conference Hall Kohima. The training was imparted by resource persons: Cheliam Khiamniungan (Master Trainer (PL), NSLSA), Joshua Sheqi (Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA), Limasenla Longkumer (Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA) and Esther K.Aye (Legal Aid Counsel & Trainer, NSLSA).
Chairman KDLSA Maongkaba Y. Imchen, delivered the Keynote address, where it was pointed out that such kind of training is of very importance because it equipped both the PLVs, panel lawyers in various legal subjects and techniques, which will help them to improve their skills in their course of their duty.
Nino Iralu, member secretary NSLSA, in her inaugural speech, congratulated the master trainers and legal aid counsel for rendering their tireless services to the society and achieving great success during PLVs/Panel Lawyers training programme. She stated that the existence of District Legal Service is considerably well known but to deliver the services to common man in the concern colony or community, the services of panel lawyers and judges alone are not sufficient so need the service of PLV to bridge a gap between the common man and the legal institution. The PLVs and panel lawyers are further encouraged to act as a bridge between the common men and to connect them to the concern departments for availing various schemes and benefits.
Cheliem Khiamiangan introduced the concept of the training, Joshua Sheqi spoke on Do’s & Dont’s of PLV, Esther K. Aye on role play on crimes against women and children, Limasenla Longkumer on Motor vehicle accident claims.
Other topics like writing petition complain and FIR, consumer redressal techniques &forum, human trafficking, welfare schemes, prisoners’ rights and legal services were imparted to the trainees.
