Dimapur, Jan. 14 (EMN): State minister of health and family welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, has appealed the central government to take up upgradation of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) to 500 bedded hospital on priority saying it the only hospital that could support to run the Nagaland medical college.
Pangnyu made this appeal during his meeting the secretary of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, Sudan Preety in New Delhi on January 14.
Besides discussing on several issues with the secretary pertaining to health sector in the state, Pangnyu specifically mentioned and appealed the secretary to take up the upgradation of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) to 500 bedded hospital on priority as it is the only hospital that could support to run the Nagaland medical college. The duo also discussed regarding the upgradation of District
Hospital Longleng and Zunheboto apart from other issues that were submitted to the ministry and secretary on her visit to state last year.
Pangnyu thanked the secretary for approving to set up NCDC in Dimapur and Model Rural Health Research Centre in Niuland, Dimapur.
Stating that she had monitored the performance of the department personally, the secretary expressed her satisfaction and assured to extend all support for improvement of health sector in the state.
Pangnyu was accompanied by Kashiho Sangtam, minister of soil and water conservation and geology and mining, and Dr. Hentok Phom.
