Dimapur, Oct. 26 (EMN): A two-week painting training programme successfully concluded at Modern College. The training was organized by Modern College in collaboration with Dzüvürü Panchayat and supported by Tata Trust and Asian Paints.
The programme consisted of two parts: theory and practical. During the theory class, various knowledge and information on colours and paints were imparted through short videos, slides and lectures, while the practical class was conducted at Dzüvürü Panchayat hall.
In the practical classes, trainees were actually exposed to the actual realm of paintings with various colours. Besides, trainees were taught the art of painting various special designs.
Initially 16 applicants were enrolled for the programme. However on screening, 14 applicants were found eligible and shortlisted for the training. The programme was aimed at youth especially school and college dropouts so that they may acquire skills with which they can earn their livelihood.
As a skill centre, Modern College had earlier provided training on carpentry and currently has Bachelor Vocation in Retail Management & IT.
At the inaugural function, various speakers including colony GB, Panchayat secretary, elders, vice principal and Wasikur Rehman, trainer, spoke on the importance of painting as a profession. Certificates will be awarded to all the successful candidates based on their performances both in theory and practical by Asian Paints.
