Dimapur, July 16: Pungro Area College Students’ Union (PACSU) has alleged certain anomalies in the village-wise electorate inclusion under 60 Pungro-Kiphire Assembly Constituency.
In a joint open statement to the State Chief Electoral Office, PACSU president, Achung Jangleh, and the general secretary, Rasuka Jacob S, claimed that seven villages namely Tikenvong, Singrep, Langkok, Phelungre, Litsaoung, Tutheze and Anatongre have total voters exceeding its total population, which it said was completely absurd.
It mentioned that percentage of total voters against the total population of Kiphire Sadar is 94%. It also accused the Election office at Kiphire of ‘clandestinely toting up electorates over the past years.’
In the light of the above mentioned facts, it regretted that the noble initiative of Election Commission of India to eliminate bogus voters by campaigning in the form of NERPAP was a mockery. It, therefore, requested the competent authority to look into the matter so that the mandate of the genuine voters is represented without nepotism during elections.
