Dimapur, Oct. 27: P Vizheto FC won the first edition of Dimapur Football League (DFL) that was conducted at the Dimapur District Sports Complex Stadium in Dimapur. The team walked home with a champions’ trophy and a cash prize of INR 1, 50, 000 along with certificates and medals.
The winners were declared on the final day of the tournament on Sat. Oct. 27.
FC Alianza secured the runners-up with a cash prize of INR 70, 000 and certificates. Meanwhile, P Vizheto FC donated INR 50, 000 to the organisers out of the prize money.
It is to be mentioned that the DFL was organised by the Naga United Football Club under the aegis of Dimapur District Football Association. It began on Sep. 14 where 240 players from eight clubs participated and scored a total of 75 goals in the whole event.
On the last day of the DFL, a match was played between Ekhyo FC and Dorian’s Society resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Retired principal director for Health and Family Welfare department, Dr. Sukhato A Sema, was the special invitee. During his speech, Sema encouraged the players to take chance of every opportunity and strive towards excellence bringing laurels to the society and the nation. “In everything you do, give your best and put your faith in God who will take care of all your needs”, he said.
The best disciplined club was awarded to Chanan FC.
Individual prizes:
Best goal keeper: Meribemo of Ekhyo FC
Best defender: Benjamin of FC Alianza
Young emerging player: Heichihang of Dorian’s Society
Highest scorer: Kakhevi of P Vizheto FC
Best mid-fielder: Alonmei of FC Alianza
Man of the tournament: Kakhevi of P Vizheto. Trophies along with certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the winners.
Meanwhile the organisers informed that the draw for the entry ticket could not be held as some of the coupons were yet to be submitted to the organisers. However, it informed that the same would be made known through the local newspapers.
