Orientation training on leprosy held for health workers in Tuensang
A one-day orientation training on leprosy was organised for health workers at the CMO conference hall, Tuensang

orientation training on leprosy in Tuensang on Wednesday.
- DIMAPUR — A one-day orientation training on
leprosy was organised for medical officers, community health officers, NLEP
health workers, DCM, ASHA coordinators, urban ASHAs, and leprosy health workers
at the CMO conference hall, Tuensang, on Wednesday.
- According to an update, the resource person for the training
was Dr. Ruokuohelie Rutsa, State Leprosy Officer from the Directorate of Health
and Family Welfare, Kohima.
- He presented a PowerPoint on services available under NLEP,
the national strategic plan and roadmap for leprosy 2023-27, pathogenesis,
cardinal signs for confirming leprosy, commonly affected peripheral nerve
trunks, criteria for grouping PB and MB leprosy, the difference between leprosy
nodules and ENL nodules, sensory testing (ST), the standard regimen of MDT,
recommended doses of MDT, leprosy reactions, human resources: roles and responsibilities,
new case detection, contact tracing, eligibility criteria for PEP, screening in
cases where the index case is a child, safety/adverse event management,
hotspots, FLC (1), household coverage, and hard-to-reach areas.
- Leaflets on leprosy were also distributed to all
participants in the training.
- The training programme was chaired by Dr. John Shupao and
began with an invocation by Tsisela (LDA). The keynote address was delivered by
Dr. Imlinaro, DPO CN-II Tuensang, and the vote of thanks was given by
Imkongmeren, NMS.
