State Council of Educational Research and Training conducts orientation on inclusive education in Pfutsero.

DIMAPUR — The District Institute of Education Training (DIET), Pfutsero, hosted an orientation programme on inclusive education in the perspective of NEP 2020 at its premises on August 27.
The programme was organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, with Daniel Thong Seb, vice principal and head of IE & ICT, and Rukuse Sakhrie, music therapist at Jo Foundation Inclusive School, as the resources persons.
An update from DIET Pfutsero stated that its senior lecturer, Dr. Anile Puro, in her welcome address, has thanked Keviraleü Kerhuo, director of SCERT, for organising the programme.

It stated that Daniel Thong Seb gave a brief explanation about inclusive education in the perspective of NEP 2020 and conducted activities to develop empathy skills. He also mentioned about the different Acts including the RPwD Act 2016, where different types of disabilities are mentioned.
He concluded his session by introducing the basics of Nagaland sign language and handed over the module to the participants.
Rukuse Sakhrie spoke on the importance of music as a therapy to calm down hyper active children. He pointed out that music therapy is not only about singing but also about understanding the person’s need and to address the problem in holistic manner.
It stated that altogether 75 participants including DIET faculty, D. El. Ed trainees and NGOs from churches and private schools attended the programme.
