Orientation held for women functionaries

[caption id="attachment_239806" align="aligncenter" width="900"] Resource persons and functionaries of Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) pose for a group photo during the orientation held on March 19 and 20 in Kohima.[/caption] Dimapur, March 21 (EMN): State resource centre for women (SRCW) and the Nagaland state social welfare board (NSSWB) organised a two-day orientation and training programme for the newly recruited functionaries of the Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and the Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) on March 19 and 20 in the conference hall of the directorate of rural development. In her introductory note, Bano Vinito, NSSWB chairperson, encouraged all the functionaries to be passionate about their job and work together as a team. She said, “We are now a family, a team to lift up the cause of women.” In her keynote address, Daisy Mezhur, NSSWB secretary and SRCW mission director, stressed on the importance of the functionaries to be available in their respective stations. Topics covered on day -one included organisational structure of the NSSWB and SRCW, implementation guidelines of the various schemes under the SRCW namely MSK, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sakhi-OSC, and the women helpline 181. Other topics included women centric schemes and programmes in the state, service delivery mechanisms for women and children in the state/ district, and the legal rights for women and children. Sessions on day-two focused on the implementation status of the schemes with intensive grounding on the technicalities of the MSK and Sakhi-OSC schemes. The sessions were more interactive and saw keen participation from the newly recruited teams. The resource persons of the two-day were officials from SRCW, women helpline-181, and Sakhi-OSC (Kohima and Dimapur). With the successful completion of the orientation and training programme, it was expected that the district teams would to set up their offices in their respective districts.
