Burns effigy of Debendra Pradhan

Diphu, May 23 (EMN): The Diphu regional students union (DRSU), a subordinate of All Assam Students Union (AASU) burned the effigy of Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Debendra Pradhan in protest against the price hike of petroleum and diesel in the country. The protest was held in Diphu on May 23 Wednesday.
While burning the effigy of Pradhan the AASU subordinate members shouted anti-slogans against the Modi led BJP government for the sudden hike of price of petroleum and diesel.
Karbi Anglong District Committee AASU, general secretary Tridip Bora said that there has been regular oil price hike in the country.
Bora said Assam has two oil refinery, but do not get any benefit as it taken away from the state. If the price of petrol and diesel are not reduced, then AASU would not allow oil transport from Assam. If in 6th schedule areas of other northeastern states gets concession of petrol and diesel rate, then why Assam is not getting, Bora cried. If the price of petrol and diesel are not pulled back by central government, then AASU will take a strong agitation against it, said Bora.
DRSU, AASU president Shorjun Hanse and general secretary Simanta Gogoi were among the leaders taking part in the protest.
