Dimapur, Feb. 9: Various tribal organisations have strongly condemned the consultative meeting called by the chief minister on February 8. It has particularly hit out at those representatives from tribal organisations who have attended the meeting.
KUD: Khiamniungan Union Dimapur (KUD) along with vice president and all designated officials of Khiamniugan Tribal Council (KTC) from Dimapur have decided to disassociate from KTC with immediate effect owing to ‘misunderstanding in the matter related to ULB elections meeting on January 16 of the KTC held at Noklak. KUD executive chairman, C Shangjeu, and KUD president, B Peniang, said the officials have decided to disassociate from the council as the ultimatum served to KTC on January 26 seeking for justice was not satisfactorily justified to the Union.
KUK: Khiamniungan Union Kohima (KUK) has flayed those individuals who attended the consultative meet called by the chief minister on February 8 in Kohima.
KUK, in its executive meeting held on February 9, accused those who attended with vested interest without the knowledge of the Khiamniungan tribal bodies and ignoring the call of the Nagas. The Union further appealed the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) to initiate stern action against the defaulters. This was stated in a joint statement issued by its executive chairman, Timothy, and the executive secretary, Pongom.
LH: Lotha Hoho (LH), in the strongest term, condemned the errand tribal bodies going against the resolution of the Naga tribe organisations by attending the meeting called by TR Zeliang on February 8 at Kohima.
Lotha Hoho chairman Mhao Humtsoe and the general secretary Er. Mhondamo Ovung felt that JCC/ NTAC as well as the concerned tribe people should initiate necessary disciplinary action against the defiant bodies or representatives. It said such persons should be condemned by all right thinking Nagas who are truly committed to Naga cause.
Meanwhile, LH has questioned the NLA speaker, Chotisuh Sazo as to whom he meant by “some organisation” when he said “some organisation who are demanding the legally constitutionally elected leader of the house…” It clarified that in the present context, the Nagas are not questioning as to whether the leader has been legally and constitutionally elected but whether the elected leader is leading the people in the right way and whether the leader is good for the people.
PHK: Pochury Hoho Kohima, in its emergency meeting on February 9, vehemently condemned the act of few vested individuals who attended the consultative meeting convened by the chief minister at State Banquet Hall in Kohima on February 8 and decided to disassociate with them.
‘The five individuals using the non-existing organisation as Pochury People’s Forum which appeared in the local dailies have defamed the entire Pochury populace by defying the eight resolutions passed and adopted by all the Naga apex bodies on February 7 at APO Conference Hall, Kohima, under the aegis of JCC and NTAC,’ PHK president Atathu Thurr and the general secretary John Nyuwi said.
Further, Pochury Hoho, Kohima resolved not to entertain the five individuals in any social participation/ position of its tribe and demand them to resign immediately from whatsoever position they are holding at present and also urged the apex Pochury Hoho and concerned village authorities to initiate stern action against them.
: Western Yimchungru Hoho (WYH) strongly condemned the participation of three YTC officials in the consultative meeting called by Chief Minister on February 8 without the consultation/concern of its office bearers nor the executives of Yimchungru Tribal Council.
Stating that their participation was against the wishes of the Yimchungru public and Nagas in general, WYH requested the YTC executives for the immediate impeachment of those attendees in order to maintain the good image and integrity of Yimchungru populace.
WYH Media Cell said it took the decision after thorough consultation with its frontal organisations such as Western Yimchungru Women Organisation (WYWO), Western Yimchungru Students' Union, Yimchungru Union Kohima (YUK), Yimchungru Union Mokokchung (YUM), Yimchungru Union Chumukedima (YUC), Yimchungru Union Diphupar, Yimchungru Union Dimapur, Village Councils, former YTC officials and representatives to YTC, ENPO, YWO.
Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC), in its emergency meeting at Shamator HQ on February 9, denounced three YTC officials lead by its president at the consultative called by Chief Minister on February 8.
YTC vice president H Tsurito and the general secretary L Chuba said the three were not officially assigned to attend the meeting and as such their attendance was unofficial. YTC has meanwhile unanimously decided to extend fullest support to the Naga tribal hohos.
