The union is pained and shocked to observe a teacher in a noble profession to be so antagonist, misgiving and invited undesirable action from law enforcement agencies. TSU said a person of such stature and noble profession is never expected in any given situation to be so mean and adorn the behaviours devoid of any qualified sense fit to be treated as an educated citizen.
TSU expressed wonder on how a juvenile, who under the constitution of India is entitled to reserved provision even at the cost of criminal offence, could be subjected to inhumane treatment causing physical and mental agony.
TSU president Nesazo Theyo and general secretary Besuhkhoto Swuro, stated the untold explanation inside the cell has amounted to violation of all human rights under any established laws. Therefore, the union categorically treated the unprovoked action inside the cell as uninvited unqualified.
Further, TSU appealed the concerned authority to take remedial and corrective action against the erring officials who were involved in the acts amounting to violation of human rights and Juvenile Justice Act against the student.
Kohima Sumi Students’ Union (KSSU) has vehemently condemned the unprofessional act of the duty officer, North Police Station, Kohima, who meted out an inhumane act towards a 17 year old student of Government Higher Secondary School, Seikhazou.
KSSU said the police officer who is supposed to be the protector, inflicted serious injuries to the helpless juvenile by allegedly attending the duty drunk and torturing the boy without ascertaining the truth of the allegation.
KSSU president Zakato Chishi, said the scars on the victim’s body showed the grievousness of the physical injury inflicted and the mental trauma the boy underwent cannot be described in mere words. Even a juvenile in conflict with law is not physically tortured in this manner and rather corrective measures are preferred, so no part of law gives the duty officer to handle the juvenile in such an inappropriate manner, it stated.
Further, KSSU demanded the concerned authority to take appropriate action, according to law against the duty officer for meting out such an inhuman act towards a student, lest the citizens lose faith upon the so called protectors of the citizens.
