Multiple Naga organisations have condemned the Chümoukedima IED blast that killed an Assam Rifles personnel.
DIMAPUR — Multiple organisations have strongly condemned the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near Khopanalla in Chümoukedima on July 13, which claimed the life of an Assam Rifles personnel and injured four others.
NSCN/GPRN (R): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) categorically condemned the attack, calling it a barbaric act.
"The NSCN/GPRN (R) is deeply concerned that this brazen incident occurs at a critical juncture, precisely when the Nagas are collectively striving to achieve an acceptable and honourable solution to the long-protracted Naga Political issue. This is a deliberate act designed to derail the peaceful atmosphere and trust that is built through perseverance between the Government of India and the Nagas," the group stated.
The group added that it remains steadfast in its commitment to abide by the Ceasefire Agreement by maintaining utmost restraint from all forms of activities that may undermine ground rules and called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
NNC/FGN: The NNC/FGN, under the leadership of Zhopra Vero, also condemned the attack.
In a statement, the group said, "The NNC/FGN unequivocally condemns the attack on 13 July 2026, in which a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) claimed the life of an Assam Rifles jawan and grievously injured four others while they were proceeding toward NH-29. This attack is heinous and vile, and it has instilled fear and terror within a peace-loving Naga society. It has created insecurity and diverted attention from the genuine political aspirations of the Naga people."
The NNC/FGN stated that such barbaric acts are alien to the Naga way of life and contrary to the principles of non-violence. It added that it remains firmly committed to the historic 1964 Indo-Naga Ceasefire Agreement and called for an immediate cessation of terror acts.
