Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): Various organisations have condemned the dastardly act of some miscreants, who resorted to firing several rounds at the residence of Abu Metha, secretary general of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in Sovima village, Dimapur, at around 10:30 pm on June 5.
NDPP: NDPP, in a Central Executive Board (CEB) meeting called by its president Chingwang Konyak, has vehemently condemned the ‘cowardly and dastardly’ act of some miscreants, who fired several rounds at the residence of its secretary general Abu Metha.
While expressing astonishment over the attacks, it questioned what prompted those miscreant(s) to resort to such senseless act that go against the very fabrics of the society where people of the State are yearning for peace. It stated that such acts of terror should not be tolerated by any civil society. NDPP called upon all right thinking citizens of the State to come together in condemning such cowardly acts.
The CEB also resolved to ask the State government and the investigating agencies to take urgent steps in identifying those perpetrator(s) and arrest them immediately to ensure that justice is delivered without any delay.
In view of this unfortunate incident, the CEB also resolved to urge upon the State government to provide adequate security cover to Abu Metha, his immediate family members and his residences. CEB was hopeful that the law enforcing and investigating agencies would soon bring the facts of the incident to light and punish the guilty as per the law of the land.
NDPP youth: NDPP central youth organisation, while condemning the June 5 incident in Sovima village, has termed the dubious intend of the perpetrators to cause grievous harm upon Abu Metha. The youth organisation was also appalled over the act of the miscreants for totally disregarding the precious lives of family members of Abu Metha including his children.
The youth organisation urged the concerned authority investigating the case to leave no stone unturned and book the perpetrators at the earliest.
AYO: Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has strongly condemned the despicable act of indiscriminate firing which specifically targeted the residences of Abu Metha and Zeneituo Yano in Sovima village at around 11:30 pm by unknown miscreants on June 5.
Stating that Abu Metha and Zeneituo Yano are two responsible citizens of its community and have been serving the Nagas tirelessly in various capacities, AYO president, Neinguvotuo Krose, and the general secretary, Kekhrie Pfukha, said firing at somebody’s residence is an act of attempted murder in its culture.
Terming the motive as an act to create terror in Naga society, AYO felt that such activities should be dealt with utmost seriousness adding those trigger happy perpetrators should be tracked down.
It urged the government to leave no stone unturned in identifying the culprits and punish them as per the law of the land.
: Chiecha Kuda Union, while condemning the June 5 incident in Sovima, has treated the incident as a matter of life and death and vowed to be deal with in all severity. The union stated that such act should be condemned by one and all when the society is striving for peace and goodwill.
The union president, Dr. Tolto Metha, and the general secretary, Thejangulie Rüpreo, have urged upon the law enforcing authorities to leave no stone unturned and bring the perpetrator(s) to book as per the law of the land.
: Sovima village council (SVC) and Sovima village youth organisation (SVYO) have strongly condemned the act of some miscreants perpetrated upon its bonafide member Abu Metha.
Terming the act as a direct attack on the village, the two organisations said it would not be tolerated but be dealt with stern consequences if any one tries to disturb the peaceful environment of the village.
In a separate statement, the council chairman Neikhriehu Kense, and the Head GB, Thepfukeduo Kuotsu, and the youth organisation president, Neiketou Rupreo, and the general secretary, Keneingusa Dzeyie, stated that vehicular movement would be restricted from 10 pm to 5 am within the village jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the two organisations have urged the law enforcing agencies to investigate and arrest the perpetrators.
: Chakhroma Students’ Union (CSU) has condemned the incident which took place on June 5 in which some miscreants fired indiscriminately at the residence of Abu Metha when he was home with his family.
The union president, Zhasakholie Kehie, and the general secretary, Menuolhousie Tsukru, urged the law enforcing authority to thoroughly investigate the case and book the culprits.
: Metha Thinuo Krotho, Dimapur, has out rightly condemned the June 5 incident urged upon the law enforcement authorities and administration to investigate immediately and book the perpetrator(s) as per the laid down laws.
The union president, Neikietuo Metha, and the general secretary, Gebou Metha, have termed the incident as a direct challenge not only to the individual and his family but also to the entire Metha clan as a whole. The union also stated that it would remain a mute spectator if justice is not delivered at the earliest. It further called upon all right thinking citizens to condemned the act.
