Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) has strongly condemned the rape committed on a minor girl in Mon town on May 30. A NSCW press release issued by its chairperson, Dr. Temsula Ao, stated that the accused person, now reportedly under police custody, must be tried under the strictest provisions of POCSO Act and given the maximum punishment accordingly. It also demanded that the government authorities must extend swift medical treatment to the victim and also offer restorative justice to the entire family.
In a separate statement, Mon Area Students’ Union (MASU) has vehemently condemned the rape of a minor girl by one Rahul Sen, son of Subrata Sen of Namrup Bengal Goan in Dibrugarh, Assam. The union has appealed to concerned law enforcing agencies to award befitting punishment to the accused person as per the law. The union president, T Phongwang, and the general secretary, M Shakwang, have appealed the public to refrain from violence but observe the steps taken by the administration.
Meanwhile, the Yuching Students’ Union (YSU) has warned those individuals, who have circulated the fake picture and information about the rape of minor girl in Mon town without proper knowledge.
The union president, Ponwang Konyak, and the general secretary, Phoe Konyak, have urged all to restrain from spreading such propagandas and appealed not to give an ear to such unauthentic and unreliable information.
