- DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Rengma Students’ Union
(DRSU) expressed concern and condemned the recent incident of brutal physical
assault on a student of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DBHSS) Kohima, which,
it said, resulted in life-threatening injuries.
- In a condemnation note, the DRSU stated that it was deeply
saddened to learn that the victim, a student of Class 10, had been subjected to
a premeditated and violent attack by fellow students, resulting in severe
internal injuries, including a ruptured stomach and subsequent peritonitis.
- It was said that this act of violence has necessitated
immediate surgery and has left the student battling for his life in the
intensive care unit (ICU).

- “The DRSU firmly believes that such barbaric acts have no
place in any civilised society, especially within educational institutions
meant to foster a safe and nurturing environment for students. This was not a
mere act of bullying but a calculated and heinous assault that has had
devastating consequences,” the note read.
- It went on to say that the union is particularly troubled by
the lack of public condemnation from other student organisations in the state,
even after two weeks of the incident, and urged all stakeholders, including
educational institutions, civil society organisations, and student bodies, to
collectively denounce this act of violence and stand in solidarity against such
atrocities.
- The DRSU called upon the authorities to conduct a swift and
thorough investigation into this incident and ensure that the perpetrators are
brought to justice. It also demanded that stringent action be taken against
those found guilty, in accordance with the law, to serve as a deterrent against
future acts of violence.
- The union maintained that its thoughts and prayers are with
the victim and his family and extended its full support, standing ready to
provide any assistance necessary during this difficult time. It also prayed for
the student’s speedy and complete recovery.
