The Urra Area Villages Union (UAVU) has vehemently condemned the murder of its bonafide member Ento Nyekha, son of late Zaveni Nyekha of Diezephe village who was shot dead allegedly by an Assam Policeman in Civies while the victim along with a friend went for fishing near Murise village.
While stating that this is not the only incident where innocent citizens of the area were killed, it recalled that two of its citizen namely late Aye Kapfo and Rokuovilie Meyase were also allegedly killed on October 16, 2010.
While mentioning that the later (Meyase) had also gone to the same area for catching frog, the union lamented that so far no arrest has been made to apprehend the culprit involved in the said case. The release issued by UAVU president Thirongse Sangtam and general secretary Ruokuozhalie Rutsa further asserted that such kind of barbaric and merciless act of killing without any’ provocation should not exist in a peace loving society, and therefore appealed to the competent authority of both Nagaland and Assam governments to seriously pursue the matter and apprehend the culprit and award with befitting punishment so that such incidents might not occur in the future.
The union also appealed to both the governments of Assam and Nagaland to give adequate compensation to the bereaved family and that a permanent solution is worked out within the two states. “As the area falls in the boundaries between the two states, we (citizens) are not secure, rather being threatened more often,” the release added.
The union further conveyed condolence to the bereaved family and invoked the blessings of the Almighty God to comfort the family members and further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Diezephe Village Council
The Diezephe Village Council has strongly condemned the killing of late Into Nyekha, one of its bonafide members allegedly by a cadre of Assam Police on May 13 at Murise village, Dimapur.
In a press statement, the council chairman Dovepra Chuzho and secretary Vezota Chuzho said that late Into Nyekha was shot dead while he was fishing with his friend at Dhansiri River.
Condemning the barbaric act, the DVC said it cannot tolerate such act of gruesome killing of innocent citizen. It further warned the concerned authority to look into the case and take befitting action against the culprit (s) at the earliest.
DVC further extended gratitude to all the neigbouring villages and leaders of different organizations for their moral and physical support during the time of sadness.
The Village Council prayed to the Almighty God to bless the departed soul, and also to give peace of mind to the bereaved family.
WCYO
The Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation (WCYO) in the strongest term has condemned the killing of Ento Nyekha by Assam Police on May 13.
Terming the killing as “cold blooded murder” and an “act of terrorism”, WCYO in a joint statement reiterated that time and again the Assam Police have openly displayed its brutal nature and instinct of killing human beings without any reasons which it said shows the act of frustration and anger towards the neighboring Nagas.
WCYO has questioned “whether the police personnel in Assam have the license to kill, whether they get away with rewards and promotions after the killings.”
While stating that these acts of killing are from the depth of depravity and the worst of evils, the organization has appealed to the state government for impartial probe into the incident and participate in the efforts with all possible means so that the perpetrator (s) of the crime be brought to justice in an impartial court of law and exemplary punishment are given at the earliest.
The organization also expressed heartfelt condolences, sympathy and extended solidarity with the bereaved family.
DCCYO, CSUD
The Dimapur Chakhesang Council Youth Organisation (DCCYO) and Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) have condemned the barbaric and cold blooded murder of Ento Nyekha, son of late Zaveni Nyekha of Diezephe village, who was allegedly shot dead by the Assam police in civvies on May 13.
The DCCYO and CSUD jointly appealed the government of Nagaland to pressurise its counterpart in Assam to bring the culprit (s) to book and award befitting punishment in order to deliver justice to the bereaved family at the earliest.
The condemnation release issued by CSUD finance secretary, Rokosato Dikha has also requested the concerned authority to be more vigilant and protect its citizens, especially in the border areas. Meanwhile, the bodies also conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God will grant them solace during this hour of grief and sorrow.
