Multiple organisations condemned the assault on a second-year nursing student at District Hospital Dimapur on February 24 and called for a thorough investigation into the case.

organisations condemned the assault on a second-year nursing student at
District Hospital Dimapur on February 24 and called for a thorough
investigation into the case.
- The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) called it an
appalling act that highlights the persistent threats to women’s safety and
security, adding that the incident exposes serious lapses in security and the
failure to ensure a safe working environment for women across the state.
- Stating that, despite sending several reminders regarding
the Apex Court's direction on the implementation of the Sexual Harassment at
Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013, the number of
cases in Nagaland remains high, the NSCW has issued a clarion call to all
stakeholders, both government and private, to adhere to the direction and
establish internal complaint committees and grievance redressal officers to
address the issue on a fast-track basis.
- The NSCW has also taken suo-motu cognizance of the crime
committed, and the matter will be prioritised. Additionally, the NSCW has
requested the state authorities to take necessary action as per the law.
- The Dimapur Naga Students' Union, the Western Chakhesang
Mother's Association, the Western Chakhesang Youth Organisation, the Western
Chakhesang Hoho, the Western Naga Youth Front, the Western Sümi Students'
Union, Dimapur Medical Colony Council Ward No. 8, the Tenyimi Youth
Organisation Dimapur, the Chakhesang Students' Union Dimapur, and the Kutsapo
Students' Union have also expressed shock and condemned the act.
