AYO: Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has decided to observe bandh on January 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. within its jurisdiction under Kohima and Dimapur districts in protest against the government’s stand to go ahead with ULB elections.
AYO has expressed gratitude to all parties for tolerance, cooperation and wisdom exercised in the testing days. AYO also requested all citizens irrespective of tribes to cooperate and understand the necessity of further protest since the government and JACWR have showed no sign of listening to the call of Naga people.
AYO said hospitals, pharmacies, medical visitations and duties, hotels, bakeries, travellers to and from various destinations from beyond the state (tickets as proof), educational institutions, all students, weddings (advised to minimize movement), church related programmes, press and media (carry identification), newspaper vendors, petrol pumps, gas agencies and deliveries, KMC, MTC, CTC and any sanitation vehicles of village or urban panchayats, farmers moving to and coming from field, military and police (advised to avoid unnecessary provocative movement) and the district administration will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
AYO advised against all government registered vehicle to stay off the road so that further tension is not caused to the already charged atmosphere. In the event of any untoward incident meted to any volunteers, AYO cautioned that the government would be held solely responsible.

CYF: Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) will be observing bandh on January 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chakhesang region of Phek district in protest against govt stand to go ahead with the ULB election.
CYF requested its citizens to cooperate with the proposed bandh. CYF president, Welete Kapfo, and the organising secretary, Khoto Tetseo said hospitals, pharmacies, medical duties, wedding parties, police and para military forces, district administration and press and media will be exempted from the purview of bandh. Ao Senden: Ao Senden has resolved to imposed total bandh on January 28 from 8 a.m. to 4p.m. within its jurisdiction under Mokokchung districts in protest against the State government’s stand to go ahead with ULB elections in some parts of the State against the will of the tribal Hohos and civil societies.
In a joint press statement, Ao Senden Acting President C Angang Jamir and Acting Secretary L Tally Longkumer stated that unless the State government comes to an amicable solution as desired by the people, the Ao Senden is prepared to impose bandh effecting from January 28 to February 1, 2017.
The press note also stated that as requested by the Nagaland government to hold a Cabinet meeting to look over the tussling situation for ULB elections, the proposed bandh, which resolved during January 23 meeting at Dimapur consisting of Naga Hohos was postponed.
Meanwhile, Ao Senden has called upon the All Ward Union Mokokchung Town, AKM, OKM, MTLT and especially the Town Likapur (Landowners) to render their tireless service for the better interest of the people.
It said military, medical, media, and educational institutes will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Meanwhile, Ao Senden stated that the current misunderstanding between the Ao Senden and Chuchuyimlang Riongsanger Putu Tatar Salang which was published in the local newspapers recently has been thoroughly solved amicably between the two parties. The Ao Senden requested all Ao citizens to be united in all situations and circumstances for the betterment and unity of Aos.
Kiphire JCC: Joint Coordination Committee, Kiphire, consisting of United Sangtam Likhum Bumji (USLB), Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC), Kiphire District GBs’ Association has called for a total bandh on January 28 from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm. The JCC has warned the candidates those who have filed the nominations to withdraw their candidatures before 12 noon on January 28 as per the resolution adopted on January 25 at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall Kiphire and earlier resolution of the ENPO on January 14 Jan at CKS hall Tuensang.
In the event of non withdrawal of the nominations, the JCC cautioned that those particular candidates would be held responsible for any untoward incidents.
