Orca and ABC A win the DDBA 3x3 Memorial Basketball Tournament in Dimapur, held in honour of late Tiameren Amri.

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA) organised a two-day 3x3 Memorial Basketball Tournament in honour of late Tiameren Amri at the JV Foundation Basketball Court in Dimapur.
According to an update, the tournament featured eight men’s teams and four women’s teams, delivering 40 matches. In the men’s final, Orca defeated TMB A to win the championship. In the women’s final, ABC A defeated Elite to lift the trophy.
For the third-place playoffs, Pogo defeated TMB B in the men’s category, while ABC B overcame Don Bosco Sports Academy in the women’s bracket.
James Tale of Orca was named the most valuable player (MVP) in the men’s category, and Nisino Nakhro of ABC A won the MVP in the women’s category.

Beyond the competition, the event honoured the life of late Tiameren Amri, who served as the Technical Director of DDBA. Yudang Ao, General Secretary of DDBA, extended gratitude to family members; Trailblazer Society, which sponsored the trophies; Dorians Society; Longlangba Odangchetla Trust; and friends of late Tiameren for their support.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Khomen Amri reflected, “We miss Tiameren deeply, but watching these players reminded us of his love for the game. We thank DDBA for honouring him through this memorial tournament.”
Moalong Jamir of Trailblazer Society remarked, “Comrade Tia’s resilience and courage were unmatched. The void his passing has left will be difficult to fill.”
Meyiwabang Longchar, Chairman of the Dorians Society, stated, “Tiameren’s deep love for basketball was evident in the way he coached and managed state teams with excellence. We appeal to DDBA to continue this memorial tournament to keep his legacy alive.”
It was mentioned that Tiameren was a pillar of basketball in Nagaland. He coached and managed state teams, raising the standard of the game in the state. The memorial tournament was organised as a celebration of his passion, resilience, and community building through sport, echoing the DDBA motto, "Striving for Excellence".
