NEW DELHI — Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a scathing attack on the opposition parties, alleging that they support anti-national elements and do not love the country.

Speaking during a debate in the Delhi Assembly on Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, Gupta praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of the military response following the Pahalgam terror attack.

"Operation Sindoor was a befitting reply to Pakistan after the attack in Pahalgam, where many women lost their loved ones," Gupta said.

"Prime Minister Modi played a huge role in protecting the dignity of our sisters," she added.

The chief minister described Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev as more than just military missions, calling them "symbols of national honour and pride" that resonated in every Indian household.

She paid tribute to the courage and commitment of the armed forces and said that under PM Modi's leadership, India has found a protector who acts like a "courageous father, a compassionate brother, and a resolute national leader".

Targeting the Congress-led INDIA bloc, she said, "These people do not love Bharat but love anti-national forces because they see their own reflection in them. They have named themselves 'INDIA', but when they speak, it feels like they are spokespersons for Pakistan."

She further alleged that members of the Opposition had questioned the credibility of Operation Sindoor even in the Lok Sabha. "They do not trust their own Army, their own prime minister, but they trust foreign countries," she charged.

Gupta also held the Congress responsible for the Partition of India and for the 1962 Indo-China war.

"In 1947, your party was in power. You took credit for Independence but not for Partition. Why didn't you take responsibility for the 1962 war with China?" she asked.

She went on to question past governments for failing to capitalise on India's historic military victories.

"Why did we return captured territories after the 1965 war? Why was the Shimla Agreement signed without holding Pakistan accountable? And why were 93,000 prisoners of war released unconditionally in 1971?" Gupta asked.

Citing earlier operations like the 2016 surgical strikes, 2019 Balakot airstrikes, and now Operation Mahadev, she said the current government does not bend under pressure.

"This government neither bows, nor stops, nor pauses, ”it confronts every challenge the nation faces," she said.

Concluding her address, the chief minister invoked the holy spirit calling on all legislators to chant "Har Har Mahadev" on the last Monday of Shravan, while expressing gratitude to the armed forces and Prime Minister Modi for safeguarding the nation's dignity.
