Opposes framework agreement between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India and the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.

Imphal, May 30 (EMN): The opposition congress party of Manipur organised a protest meeting on the framework agreement between the NSCN(IM) and Government of India(GoI) and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 at the Congress Bhavan in Imphal on May 30 Wednesday.
The protest meet was organised by the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee(MPCC-I) and it was attended by opposition leader and former chief minister O Ibobi Singh, MLA and former Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, President of MPCC(I) TN Haokip and other sitting and former MLAs of the party besides a large number of party workers.
Almost all the speakers in the day’s protest expressed and shared their opinions on the framework agreement between the NSCN (IM) and GoI and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Later the meeting decided to take six resolutions-three each for two separate issues. In case of framework agreement between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India, the meeting reaffirmed the Memorandum of November 21 2017 submitted to the Prime Minister of India in regard to the framework agreement signed between GoI and NSCN(IM) besides resolving to demand for protection of the integrity of Manipur-territorial, administrative, financial, cultural and political etc.
Condemning the recent statement of RN Ravi who is Centre’s interlocutor of the ongoing GoI and NSCN(IM) talk since 2014 and in regard to the contents of the framework agreement that appeared in the newspaper (Indian Express) on April 26 2018, the meeting also decided to urge the central government and all the political parties to safeguard the interest of the state of Manipur.
Also, the protest meeting decided to submit a memorandum to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2017.
Resolving to submit the memorandum to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister of the country in this regard, MPCC (I) has also demanded the GoI for withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
