Dimapur, June 7: Operation Salvage a rehabilitation centre initiated by the armed organization NSCN/GPRN observed its 15th Foundation Day at Heningkunglwa in Peren district on Tuesday.
Addressing the few gatherings of its Operation Salvage 15th Foundation Day, chief guest NSCN/GPRN MIP, Kilonser V.Horam dwelling on the historical August 3 2015 framework agreement reiterated that through the framework agreement foundation has been laid for Nagalim and people need not be confused with various versions of stories doing around. He made it clear that the agreement was based on recognition of uniqueness of Naga history, Shared sovereignty and peaceful co-existence between two entities.
Dwelling on those points, the MIP Kilonser Horam remarked that the best solution is on the way for Nagalim and everyone must be prepared and think of how we can contribute to nation building.
Attending to the Operation Salvage inmates, Horam spoke that the World is a global village because of technology and media where every individual is exposed to other parts of the world with their culture both good and bad. Drug abuse and alcohol addiction he opined is not part of Northeast culture but man by nature is adventurous which leads us into venturing new experiences without thinking of its consequences.
Terming Operation Salvage to be one of the best rehabilitation Centre in the state, Horam said the centre is growing from strength to strength and with the urgent need to balance its services Operation Salvage board of directors will be set up soon and construction of multipurpose conference hall is in the pipeline.
Operation Salvage founder NSCN/GPRN Kilonser David recounting the initial days of Operation Salvage called on the government and churches to partner and set up more rehabilitation home for a better society. While stating this, he mentioned that drug abusers and their families live in denial because of shame of the society that leads to a bigger issue. But with the mindset of a larger section of the society changing, he said many are coming out of their issues to address their problems.
He conveyed that drugs are a global problem, a vast growing market which is impossible to contain and in a house it is difficult to control even one member addict. Addiction he maintained is a desire and it is a family disease. Therefore if an addict does not receive external support it is impossible to treat and called upon family involvement for a better result.

Operation Salvage with the motto ‘Save live’ is on its mission to transform 50 lives who have found their way at the
rehabilitation centre for a better life and fight their way out of alcohol and drug abuse. The house at present has substance users from the age of 15-59 years with one PhD holder.
‘Clients’ as they are referred to, are on the task of walking out free from substance abusers, come out clean and be an asset to the society.
A 44 year old client who spend his 44th birthday sober at the rehabilitation centre, coming out strong of his weakness shared that the 15th foundation day of Operation Salvage coincides with his father’s first death anniversary and this he said has made him stronger to fight his battle and the centre has given him refuge to shelter on.
Another ‘Client’ who has spend six months in the centre recounted his difficult days as a drug abuser since 1998
before turning even 14 years shared that people including his family would look with fear and insecurity whenever he
was around. With his life revolving around prison and rehab centre, he says he got fed up with the life he choose and decided to fight the battle even though it might be hard on him. Now he says with 49 of his friends and many others in the rehab centre are like soldiers fighting war against their temptation.
