Dimapur, Feb. 12 (EMN): With the objective to eradicate addiction on drugs and alcohol among women, Operation Salvage – an undertaking of NSCN (IM) - has launched a project exclusively for women.
The project was inaugurated and dedicated by Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, NBCC general secretary on February 7 in the presence of ZBCC, ZBA (ANM) LBA, RBCN and other NGO and NSCN (IM) leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, the NBCC general secretary endorsed full support of the ministry saying it is rightly the ministry of the church. The dedication of the rehab building was also attended by pastors from various communities from Jalukie town and Heningkunglwa.
It has been 16 years since the ‘Operation Salvage’ started in Heningkungle under Perten district led by L David, CAO of Asalu Region. It has also been 30 years since the imposition of Nagaland Total Liquor Prohibition (NTLP) Act passed by in the state government.
NSCN (IM) has launched the project with the motive and intention for total eradication of alcohol and other intoxicant substances among the younger generations and to create awareness among the upcoming generations to live a good life basing on the teachings of Christ.
It may be mentioned here that after many success stories among the male clients, a new venture was launched in the name of ‘Operation Restoration’ particularly for women clients. ‘Operation Restoration’ has brought all the NGOs and other associations of Peren district together, who have been working to fight the vices for a long time. The project is run and monitored by a working committee along with the support of NSCN (IM), Asalu Region.
