Kohima, May 18: The 1st Open Futsal tournament organized by Naga FC got underway at Kohima local ground on Thursday. 45 teams are participating in the tournament. The three-day tournament witnessed 20 matches on the first day.
Speaking to this correspondent, Vekuto Puro, a member of Naga FC said the tournament was organized in order to promote football among the youngsters as Nagaland have fewer opportunities.
During the match at Ground -1 (pool-A), Lerie FC overcame The Juggernauts FC by 5-2 in the first match while Dahou United thrashed Young United 8-1 in the second match. Ziekezou defeated Rising Brotherhood FC by a solitary goal and All FC also beat Pfuratsie FC by -0.
Fast Five scored three goals to beat Younger FC. Unified Sporting Club won by a solitary goal against Quasar Club. In the last match of the first round, Friends Collection Club defeated Sperts FC 3-2.
At ground-2 Kohima local ground, Prege FC overpowered Turaco FC by 3-0 in the first match and Press Start FC dismantled Forest Colony 6-4 in the second match.
Trixie FC also registered wins by beating Achievers via a penalty shootout 3-2 after both the teams scored a goal each during the match.
Blue Raiders dismantled Merhiilietsa FC by a margin of 6-0 and Gari-Ciko Club dethroned NHCYO 4-1.
Hurricane Boys beats Rebels 3-1. In the 7th match, Royal Chedema outclassed Zenith FC 3-0.
In the second round at ground-1 (pool-A), Team Awesome beat Lierie FC4-3.while Dream FC beat Dahou United via tiebreaker and the third match, Dynamo’s FC defeated Ziekezou by 2-1.
In pool-B 2nd round, Onyx Club outclassed Asi FC 2-0 in the first match, While Prege FC overpowered Street Hawks 3-0 and in the final match, Young Heroes beat Press Start FC via-tiebreaker
The final match will be played on May 20 and the champions will receive Rs.30, 000 and the runner-up to get Rs.20, 000. The losing semi-finalist will be awarded Rs.5000 each. The individual awards are Best Player- Rs.1500, Best Goalkeeper and highest goal scorer- Rs.1000 each.
